The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is one of the public sector universities located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was founded in the year 1980 and is restructured in the year 1985. The University started as an Islamic University with just 9 students in its LL.M degree Program and classes were being held at the Quaid-i-Azam campus, Islamabad. The University was ameliorated, reoriented, and reconstituted as “International Islamic University” with the advertisement of the International Islamic University Ordinance by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in March, the year 1985.
The mission of International Islamic University (IIUI) is to augment unification and Islamization of the current knowledge and human thought an international viewpoint through entrenched institutions and academic attempts to achieve excellence in all fields of knowledge. The institute is the stronghold of Islam, theology, and Islamic studies.
The university was ranked 4th in the group of general universities by the Higher Education Commission (Pakistan) in 2012. In February 2014, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia received an honorary doctorate in politics and foreign relations. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in law, astronomy, engineering and technology, humanities, languages, religious studies, social sciences, and natural sciences. It draws students both domestically and from Central and Southeast Asia.
There are a lot of facilities provided to the students to entertain them, including Computer labs, Language laboratories, Libraries to provide help to the students in the field of research and Residence facilities by having the best hostel buildings with every facility in them including mess, wifi, etc. International Islamic University (IIUI) is affiliated with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Engineering Council, and Pakistan Bar Council

Admission to International Islamic University is strictly based on merit. IIUI admission test must be passed in order to take admission in IIUI. A merit list is displayed with the names of the eligible candidates. The list is displayed online and also pasted on the notice board.
Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs
1. 12-years of field-related education, passed with at least second division from any registered institution.
2. 50% marks in the entry test.
Selection Criteria for Graduate Programs
1. 16-years of education with at least second division with an aggregate of 45% in the annual system and 2.5 CGPA in the semester system.
2. 50% marks in the entry test.
