Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi Campus
The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), is a private-sector research university located at Topi, Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Its campus is spread on 400 acres (1.6 km2) is situated on an open space near the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The institute is affiliated with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) GIKI is one of the top institutions ranked by the HEC.
It is established by a civil servant and former President Ghulam Ishaq Khan in the year 1993. Since its establishment, the institute has been charmed by the country’s most leading scientists such as Abdul Qadeer Khan, Asghar Qadir, and Shaukat Hameed Khan, who draw an excellent role in developing the institute as one of the world’s finest and country’s first-class science and engineering university.
The motto of the university is “O my Lord! Advance me in Knowledge”. GIKI is has a well-known reputation with a very low acceptance rate for students. Only applicants with high academics scores, extra-ordinary brilliance, and strong financial background will be offered an invitation to GIKI.
The Directorate f Science and Technology (DoST) KPK Pakistan donated GIKI a “High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC)’ which is an intensive computing platform equipped with advanced systems to accommodate students. The Alumni Yarjan Abdul Samad, was the first Pakistani to work is space program at the University of Cambridge.
GIKI introduced its own startup program the Incubator in 2014. The goal was to establish creative thinking, and skillset among young students rooting to be future entrepreneurs. GIKI has the funding of about 100 million rupees. It was granted by from Directorate of Science and Technology, Ministry of ST & IT, Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
GIKI – Admissions, Departments & Scholarships
GIKI offers admission in Bachelor, Masters, and Ph.D. in a variety of programs annually. Admissions are based on total merit. Their admission test carried out in seven major cities of Pakistan. The syllabus for GIK Institute Admissions includes subjects of Physics, Mathematics, and English.
Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs
1. 12 years of field-related education, passed with at least a second division from any registered institution.
2. 50% marks in entry test.
Selection Criteria for Graduate Programs
1. 16 years of education for Master and 18 years education for Ph.D. with at least second division with an aggregate of 45% in the annual system and 2.5 CGPA in semester system.
2. A good score in GAT/GRE test, and interviews.

In July 2010 Office of Outreach and Enterprise – OOE was formed at GIKI. University research usually requires investment in state-of-the-art facilities. This means that research-intensive universities need better laboratories, bigger libraries, and specialist equipment. The aim of this office is to make students industry-oriented and later with the collaboration of HEC OOE was updated into the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization – ORIC. ORIC takes part in connecting students with the areas leading industries.
The main purpose of the workshops is to provide a platform for researchers, scientists, practitioners, and academicians. In collaboration with the department of science and technology, KPK organized the
– 1st international Workshop on “Functional Reverse Engineering of Machine Tools” (WRE 2018).
– A one-day seminar on “Quality Assurance of MS/Ph.D. Program from Internal and External Quality Assurance Perspectives” by Mr. Farrukh Idrees, Manager, Directorate of Quality Assurance, FAST-NUCES Islamabad was conducted at GIK Institute.
