The Northern University, Nowshera has been formed by EDR Trust and Charted by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the private sector. It was established in the year 2002 and is recognized by HEC as a degree-awarding university operating in the private sector. The institute offers equivalent programs that target Engineering, Science and Technology, body Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, and different supporting disciplines.

 The University has two campuses, at Nowshera. The main campus is situated at Wattar Walai Ziarat Kaka Sahib Road, Nowshera. The city campus is located in the center of the city and is easily reachable through public transport. The foundation for the main campus was set up by Governor NWFP, Mr. Khalil Ur Rehman, in April 2005. The university currently has four faculties, with sufficient facilities to become a center of excellence among other institutions.

The mission of Northern University Nowshera is to facilitate the students to acquire the skills and knowledge required to solve the challenges of the new millennium and improve academic standards by implementing self-regulatory quality enhancement procedures.

The Northern University provides a very homogenous environment to develop students’ creative abilities. For this, the university has to undergo many steps. One of them is comfortable and well-furnished classrooms equipped with modern educational facilities, such as multimedia projectors, overhead projectors, audiovisual facilities, etc.

Admission criteria are very selective and on merit. Northern University believes in the quality of education. The applicant has to apply online and the university conducts an entry test. A list is pasted of successful candidates.

Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs
1. 12 years of field-related education, passed with at least second division from any registered institution.
2. 50% marks in the entry test.

Selection Criteria for Graduate Programs
1. 16 years of education with at least second division with an aggregate of 45% in the annual system and 2.5 CGPA in the semester system.
2. 50% marks in the entry test.

Scholarships are directed towards acknowledging exceptional students for their achievements in the fields of academics and educational prowess. Scholarships are also available for needy students who can’t continue higher education due to financial instability. To encourage education, Northern University is providing intensive fee grants to all or any of its students starting from 25%, up to 60%.
