The Government College University (GCUF) Hyderabad is situated in Hyderabad, Sindh, It is a public sector university. The college was founded in 2017, and upon its 100th anniversary in 2017, the Government of Sindh upgraded its status to a full-service university. The college was administered by the board of trustees before the subcontinent was divided. On 21st June 1948, the Sindh government took charge of the college. At that time, there were only 224 students with a faculty of just 25. In between, 1951-1952, co-education was started, before that, girls had no school of their own.

The institute has well-furnished labs with state-of-the-art equipment. Each lab is equipped with 20 computer systems and a computer guide. Labs are included in different departments like computer sciences, physics, statistics, botany & zoology. A well-established library serves the needs of intermediate to post-graduate students. The library includes more than 25,000 books on different topics and relevant fields. Library issues books for over a one-month period. Students with institute ID and library membership are only entitled to draw books from the library.

GCU Hyderabad has a large, visually appealing multipurpose auditorium that is used for educational events, seminars, conferences, and workshops for both internal and external faculty. The auditorium can accommodate more than 400 attendees at one time. The auditorium stage is set up with spectacular lighting, an enhanced audio system, and a large multimedia display for presentations.

The university offers several opportunities for sports and provides facilities for different games. The institute strives to develop each student physically and the sports club plays an active role in this. GCU Hyderabad has put a lot of effort to facilitate its students with playgrounds including cricket and football grounds, basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts, and table tennis. The Physical Education division providers trainers and instructors to train, guide, and motivate students for physical activities.

GCU Hyderabad offers undergraduate programs in different programs. Admissions in GC University Hyderabad are purely based on merit. The candidates have to apply online for admissions. The candidate must pass an entrance exam in order to take admission to the university. After the test, successful candidates are screened for interview.

Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs

  1. The candidates with at least 50% marks in /F.Sc./I.Com/ICS or equivalent examination are eligible to apply for all BS. programs
  2. The candidaates with O/A- Level certificate with 50% marks are eligible aggregate marks are eligible to apply for admission, under the Regular & Self Supporting Scheme.
