The University of Science and Technology, Bannu (USTB) is a public sector university that is located in the rural area of Bannu district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. University of Science and Technology Bannu was established in 2005. Banu is known for its industries of clothing weaving, sugar mills, and the manufacturing of cotton fabrics, machinery, and equipment. Though Bannu is surrounded by high, rough mountains, it is a fertile place and it was known to early English visitors as a “paradise”.
University of Science and Technology Bannu aspires to offer high-quality education in the fields of Life Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Business Studies, and Humanities. Since its foundation, the UST Bannu is following its mission to successfully provide excellent education, qualified and trained faculty members, research facilities to their students.
UST Bannu is currently offering Bachelor’s, Master and Ph.D. level degrees. The number of students is increasing day-by-day with the launch of the new disciplines and the faculty. UST is an independent institute controlled by the Committee. The committee includes professionals experts in their fields including educationists, religious scholars, businessmen, and representatives of the provincial and federal government.
The vision of the UST is “To provide a productive environment, inevitable for the pursuit of education, learning and research at the highest level of excellence”. Their motto is to enhance the talent of the students and to invoke hidden knowledge and learning through the development of creative thinking in applied sciences.
University of Science and Technology Bannu – Admissions, Departments, and Scholarships
The University of Science and Technology (UST), Bannu aims to provide quality education to the residents of Bannu. Admission to UST Bannu is based on merit. An entrance exam must be passed for admission in UST Bannu. The eligibility criteria for admissions are given below;
Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs
1. At least 45% marks in 12 years of education.
2. 50% marks in entry test.
Selection Criteria for Graduate Programs
1. At least a CGPA of 2.5/4.0 or 45% marks in the annual system of 16 years of education.
2. 50% in entry test.
Selection Criteria for Postgraduate Programs
1. 18 years of field related education From HEC recognized university with at least CGPA 3.0/4.0 or first division in annual system.
2. GAT (subjective) or GRE subject with at least 60% marks.

Scholarships are given to hardworking, eligible, and financially weak students at the University of Science and Technology Bannu. Scholarships are offered to students who may not qualify for a need-based scholarship and who do meet the criteria for a merit-based. Scholarships include,

– Sibling fees,
– Financial Assistance to deserving students.

Research and development centers in the University of Science and Technology Bannu, are working to improve the trends of research activities in areas of economic, industrial, social, and academic development. To promote and strengthen research and patent culture in the University of Science & Technology Bannu and develop strong university-industry linkages in order to encourage and accelerate the process of creation and diffusion of knowledge that would serve the students and their professional lives. They also provide funding opportunities, presentation of research work, form linkages with industry, and organize seminars and workshops.
Seminars and workshops are important for the student in order to gain some knowledge and improve their skills. University of Science and Technology Bannu organize such events some of them are;
1. National Conference on “Threats in biodiversity and ecosystems, Efforts to resolve current and future challenges” was organized by USBT on 26-28 November 2018.
2. 1st National Conference on “Recent innovation in Medical Chemistry and biotechnology” held on 20 February 2018.
