Established in 1988 as a training institute, the Health Services Academy (HSA) earned the spot to become the first Degree Awarding Institute (DAI) of Public Health Sciences in Pakistan. Under the Ministry of Health, it was granted the status of an independent health institution in 2002. Since, then, HSA has put a lot of effort to establish itself as one of the top-ranking research facilities and teaching institutes of Public Health. It is the only institute in overall Pakistan, that offers Ph.D. in Public Health.

HSA offers a number of programs including MS & FCPS in Public Health, M.Sc in Health Economics & Management, PG Certification Human Resource in Health, and  MEDVC. The institute is committed to producing the top public health professionals by providing a brilliant teaching faculty, excellent research, and good policies.

The Academy recognizes research as the top priority. There has been ongoing research in different areas of Public Health. Also, various projects are underway in collaboration with the international universities i.e. University of Manitoba, Bradford, & Liverpool. HSA has its official journal known as “The Pakistan Journal of Public Health” and is in its 8th year of publication. For the past 10 years,  the Annual Public Health Conference has become a regular mandate of the HSA and Public Health Professionals.

Admissions in Health Services Academy are purely based on merit. The criteria for admissions in HSA are given below.

  1. Admissions are opened twice a year; from December – January & from July – August.

  2. Admissions are advertised in local and national newspapers. Upon eligibility criteria, only manual applications are accepted.

  3. An admission test is conducted and admission is offered to the successful candidates based on merit.

  4. There is no determined age limit for the applicants.

  5. The institution offers admissions to all individuals regardless of their gender, religion, color, creed, class, or domicile.

  6. International students can apply too.
