About Us

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) was the visionary idea of Mr. Syed Babar Ali, Pro-Chancellor, LUMS. The vision was to build up such an institution, which is internationally recognized in research and education. This idea was practically implemented by the National Management Foundation (NMF), the sponsoring body, and it took a start by offering an MBA in 1986.
Till 2012, LUMS has actively been involved in the continuous development of academia. Academic Freedom, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence, and Merit are in the set of core values. It is not even excelling in education but in the personal, professional, and career development of the students and practitioners.

LUMS – Admissions, Schools and Scholarships

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) opens admissions for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs on a regular basis. An applicant has to apply first through an online application portal or manually through visiting the admission office of the university.
After a thorough assessment of all applications and interview performance (if taken), the merit list of successful candidates is announced and admission offer letters are issued to them. After that, the candidate deposits his/her dues before the commencement of classes.

Selection Criteria For Undergraduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Background: Matric with at least 70% Marks and FSc (1st Year) with 70% Marks or Above, O’ Levels results in at least 8 subjects with an average grade of at least ‘B’ in all subjects attempted, American High School Diploma (1st Year) with at least 70% Marks or Grade Point Average of B or above, or International Baccalaureate (1st Year) at least 28 out of 45 Points.
2. Performance in Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called).

Selection Criteria For Graduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Record: BS degree in relevant discipline with 2.4/4.0 CGPA from an HEC accredited institution, or 16 years of relevant education with 60% Marks in all university-level degree(s).
2. Performance in LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT)/Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called).

Selection Criteria For Postgraduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Record: MS degree in relevant discipline with 3.0/4.0 CGPA from an HEC accredited institution, or 18 years of relevant education with First Division in all university-level degree(s).
2. Performance in LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT)/Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called)

Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) become functional in 1986 at LUMS providing excellent options in the fields of business and management. Leading faculty members of Pakistan are serving in this school. It has a close professional affiliation with Harward Business School. This school has produced 2000+ senior management executives for the industry. Strong academic linkages with industry & business organizations, advanced research, and challenging curriculum are the key values.

Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities & Social Sciences (MGSHSS) was established with the assistance of the Gurmani Foundation at LUMS in 2012. In early times, it was entirely based on Arts, but nowadays, it also involves Science as well to meet the demands of the modern age. Two departments of Economics and Humanities & Social Sciences are functional there. This school is basically providing updated knowledge to the students. The designed curriculum is highly innovative and helps in studying the dynamics of society.
