The University of Malakand is also known as UOM. It is a private sector university. It was founded in the year 2001. Stationed at Lower Dir District of Kyber Pakhtunkhwa. UOM was ranked as the 7th university by HEC in the year 2010, due to its pledge of providing an outstanding educational and learning platform to the students. The motto of the university is “University at Glance”. UOM believes that the outstanding education platform can change the thinking perspective of the new generation and positive energy can change the atmosphere of society.
The idea for establishing a university in Malakand Division was proposed in 1972. But it was not implemented until 2001. The campus was built at village Ramora which is an extensive and beautiful land alongside the Forest Department. The campus covers more than 300 acres bordering fences and boundary walls.
Malakand is a city rich in natural beauty, history, and culture. Since the foundation of UOM, the university is working with zeal and zest towards excellence, character building, and knowledge sharing. The university offers undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in various disciplines.
In the 2020 QS ranking, UOM earned a place in 351-400 among the Asian Universities ranking, first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 9th among general and overall 17th in Pakistan. This achievement shows UOM’s dedication, research, and commitment that will bring prosperity to the country.

Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs
1. 12 years of field-related education, passed with at least second division from any recognized institution of Pakistan
2. At least 50% marks in the entry test.

1. 16 years of education with at least second division with aggregate 50% marks.
2. At least 50% marks in the entry test.
