[Admissions Open Fall 2023] National Defence University, Islamabad
National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad has announced admissions for various degree programs for Fall 2023 Session in BS, M.Phil and PhD. NDU is a federally chartered university managed by the Pakistan Army and a serving 3-Star General acts as President of NDU. NDU is offering admissions in the following degree programs.

How to Apply
- Admissions are advertised in local newspapers and on the NDU Official website for the respective sessions (Spring/Fall).
- To apply, candidates need to complete the online application form available on the NDU website when admissions open. A system-generated login and password are sent to the applicant's email, which they use to access the Online Admission System. Candidates must create a login ID using a valid email address.
- After submitting the online application form, candidates must upload soft copies of the required documents and provide the original receipt of the admission processing fee.
- Depending on the program, applicants may be required to appear for the GAT (G/S) for MPhil/PhD, the NDU Entry Test for BS/MPhil/PhD, and an interview for BS/MPhil/PhD, following the advertised schedule. MS/MPhil candidates must pass the NDU or NTS GAT (General), while PhD candidates must pass the NDU GAT (Subject).
- However, those applying for a PhD in IR/LMS with a valid/passed result of NTS-GAT (S) are exempt from the NDU GAT (S) on the scheduled dates. Merit will be determined according to the published Merit Determination Criteria.
- The merit list will be posted after the test and interview, as per the scheduled dates announced in newspapers and on the NDU Official website.
- Selected students will receive an offer letter/Fee Challan via email and must submit the fee within the specified time. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the entire Merit List, and their name will not be included in any future merit lists.
- Admitted students are expected to enrol in the full load of courses prescribed for the semester.
Eligibility Criteria
- BS: HSSC/A- levels or equivalent. Candidates awaiting HSSC results shall be allowed to apply for admission on the basis of HSSC Part-I results. Admission confirmation shall be made on the production of complete results of HSSC/A-levels. In case of failure of the requirement, the admission shall be stand cancelled.
- MS/M.Phil: MSc/ BS (4 Years) or equivalent (Min. 16 years of education) in relevant discipline from HEC recognized institution List of relevant disciplines is available on NDU Website. Candidates must submit MA/MSc/BS (relevant) degree. Candidates submitting HEC attested last degree will be given preference.
- PhD: MPhil/MS or equivalent (Min. 17/18 years of education*) in relevant discipline from HEC recognized institution with minimum 1st division in Annual System or 3.0 / 4.0 CGPA in Semester system in the last degree. Candidates must submit MS/MPhil HEC-attested (relevant) degree. Preference will be given to candidates submitting research-based degrees.
