BS Humanities

The BS Humanities program is a review of some major developments in human culture. The goal is to analyze how societies express their ideas through art, literature, music, religion, and philosophy and to consider some of the underlying assumptions about the way societies are formed and run. The focus is on developing the conceptual tools to understand cultural phenomena critically. Within this program, most students major in English, history, religious studies, art history, foreign language, or area/ethnic studies. Many also pursue a general humanities or liberal arts major.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least 60% marks or 2nd division in F.Sc./FA/I.Com./ICS/A level or equivalent.
  • Passing marks in entry test.

Scope

The importance of studying humanities is that it provides practical benefits as well. It can lead to challenging and rewarding work, even in business. Employers value students who are well-educated, can speak and write effectively and can solve complex problems.
The Humanities major also provides students with the unique opportunity to learn not only traditional wisdom, but also to apply that wisdom to a variety of contemporary economic, religious, political, and social issues at the heart of human culture and life. Thus, Humanities is one of the most intellectually stimulating and enjoyable majors, providing students with numerous opportunities to make their lives satisfying and exciting.
