The University of Poonch, Kahuta Haveli is in the Haveli District of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It was previously a part of Bagh District, but it broke away from Bagh on July 1, 2009, becoming the ninth district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. According to the 2017 Census, it has a population of 152,124 people. People in Haveli Districts are more educated than people in the rest of Azad Kashmir. Haveli is ranked 17th out of 148 districts in terms of education, according to the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2015.

The district is ranked 146th out of 148 in terms of facilities and infrastructure. On November 16, 2017, a Sub Campus of the University of Poonch Rawalakot was established at Kahuta in response to the educational needs of the residents of the Kahuta Haveli. The campus was initially housed in the Boys Degree College Kahuta building. In the first phase, two undergraduate degree programs in Education and Computer Sciences were launched.

-Intermediate or equivalent O/A level with 50% marks or 2nd Division
