PAF-IAST was inaugurated on 17th September 2020 by Prime Minister Imran Khan along with KPK’s Governor and Chief Minister. The institute was established as a part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s commitment to set up  reputable technical education facilities at both the tertiary and hi-tech industrial levels. The PAF IAST programs are interwoven with parallel programs for technology-driven organizations. For the vision to be fully realized, the educational infrastructure of the institute must be linked with the growth of the high-tech industry.

PAF IAST has a solid strategy in place to create an Innovation Technology Park on its state-of-the-art campus in order to satisfy this crucial requirement. In order to encourage creativity, each Austrian and Chinese-trained faculty member will get an average grant of USD 50,000 to develop new projects in the Innovation Park. A total of 10 million dollars has already been put aside. Scientists from Austrian and Chinese universities have agreed to collaborate on new initiatives, which could lead to joint patenting as well as industrial production.

Admissions are based on merit. Applications are submitted online. The eligibility criteria are as follows;

For Bachelors
1. Intermediate (FSc. Pre- Engineering) or equivalent with 60% marks for admission in engineering.
2. Intermediate (FSc. Pre- Engineering/ICS) equivalent with 50% marks for admission in Science.
3. Intermediate (FSc. Pre- Medical) or equivalent with 50% marks for admission in biomedical science & biotechnology.
4. Intermediate equivalent with 50% marks for admission in Information design

For Masters
1. Bachelor education (i.e., minimum 130 credit hours)/ Equivalent Sixteen-years education in the respective subject from HEC recognized institutions is a prerequisite for admission to all MS programs.
2. Minimum CGPA of 2.50 on a scale of 4.00 or 60% marks (i.e., CGPA is not provided)/Equivalent in Bachelor program/16-years education is required for admission to all MS programs.
