NUST Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (NIPCONS), Rawalpindi

About Us

NUST Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (NIPCONS) was initiated in December 2009 at the NUST Campus, Tamizuddin Road, Rawalpindi Cantonment, to develop the system of education for Army cadets / Young Officers (YOs), in accordance with the academic standards of NUST. The Institute was intended to act as a center for excellence in the field of Peace and Conflict Studies, as well as a center for Peacekeeping Training (PKT) and affairs of UN peacekeeping operations.

In February 2013, the Centre for International Peace & Stability (CIPS) was founded. Since its set up, the institute has hosted very special guests from the world, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, who formally inaugurated it on 13 August 2013. The Centre operates in parallel ways. First, it supervises short-term courses for troops assigned for UN peacekeeping missions and graduate programs in Peace & Conflict Studies (PCS).

Vision The vision of NIPCONS is to grow as a center of excellence in the fields of Military Art & Science and Peace and Conflict Studies. The Centre also operates as a Think Tank. The institute collaborates with other academic institutions and partners for dealing future challenges.

Mission The mission of the university is to Undertake high-quality teaching, research, and serve as a think tank on issues of Peace and Conflict Studies. The Department of PCS of NIPCONS has completed the course work for the first batch of Ph.D. candidates. These candidates have now entered the research phase of their studies. Conducting seminars among students is good for their education and also for their career. This would help them to get more information on the particular seminar topic. Seminars also help them to exchange their ideas with teachers. They will get new things that they think would be implemented practically.
