Military College of Signals (MCS), NUST Rawalpindi
Military College of Signals (MCS) is the oldest and peculiar academic institution with a unique history that can be traced back to the independence year. In 1947, the Military College of Signals was established. MCS was recognized by UET Lahore from 1977 to the mid-90s. In 1991 NUST was established and MCS was elected as the 1st and foremost constituent college of NUST. The Military College of Signals aims to build the human resource that can serve our nation and gain excellence in international studies and engineering. For the last 35 years, MCS graduates are spread in almost all fields of IT, telecommunication, software engineering, and information security. In addition to studies, faculty and students of MCS actively contributes to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. There is a long list of achievements of the faculty and students. Military College of Signals introduced starting following programs in Pakistan. – BE Telecom Engineering in 1960 – BE Software Engineering in 1996 – MS in Information Security in 2001. Military College of Signals started its Ph.D. programs in 2001. MS in System Engineering was started in 2014. Currently, MCS maintains an academic environment through highly educated, qualified, and skilled teachers. The academic facilities of MCS include world-class classrooms and labs. The historic buildings of MCS are the symbol of the long-standing traditions of academic excellence at MCS. Signaling represents MCS/NUST in almost all industries related to Software, Telecommunication, and Information Security. Vision To pull up this institute as a center of excellence for higher studies in research and engineering at national and international standards, and building a human resource to serve Pakistan’s nation. Military College of Signals, NUST Rawalpindi – Admissions, Departments & Scholarships
Admissions in MCS opens in June. Students can apply online. University will then assign the entry test date. Selection Criteria for Undergraduate Programs – Candidate passed 12-years of field related education. – At least with the second division in matric and FSC. – 50% marks in the entry test. Selection Criteria for graduate Programs – Candidate passed 16-years of field related education. – At least with the second division from any of the recognized institutes. – 50% marks in the entry test. – Selected candidates will be screened during the interview. Selection Criteria for Postgraduate Programs – The candidate must have passed a graduate program. – At least with the 3.0 CGPA from any of the recognized institutes. – 50% marks in the entry test. – Selected candidates will be screened during the interview
Every year MCS delivers various funded scholarships and awards scholarships to the deserving and the needy students. Need-based and financial aid is provided to students with low family income. Other scholarships for province and state are also available. Scholarships include, – HEC Need-Based Scholarship. – Financial assistance. – National Endowment Scholarships for Talent (NEST)- MS & PhD. – Chief Minister of Education Endowment Fund (CMEEF)- KP. – Indigenous Scholarships for Students of Balochistan and FATA. – PEEF and many other scholarships.
In MCS various research groups are working on different research projects e.g. the signal processing research group focuses on an algorithm based on the signaling processing design and implementation. Departments of Humanities and basic science research groups are working on mathematical modeling and simulations.
When it comes to workshops and seminars in MCS, there is variety. Workshops like Workshop on Cross mobile platform Application development using FLUTTER, WORKSHOP ON BLOCKCHAIN, Millimeter-wave Technology, and its Military Applications and many others are held monthly. They are informative and covers many innovations in less time
