Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) was the visionary idea of Mr. Syed Babar Ali, Pro-Chancellor, LUMS. The vision was to build up such an institution, which is internationally recognized in research and education. This idea was practically implemented by the National Management Foundation (NMF), the sponsoring body, and it took a start by offering an MBA in 1986.
Till 2012, LUMS has actively been involved in the continuous development of academia. Academic Freedom, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence, and Merit are in the set of core values. It is not even excelling in education but in the personal, professional, and career development of the students and practitioners.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) opens admissions for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs on a regular basis. An applicant has to apply first through an online application portal or manually through visiting the admission office of the university.
After a thorough assessment of all applications and interview performance (if taken), the merit list of successful candidates is announced and admission offer letters are issued to them. After that, the candidate deposits his/her dues before the commencement of classes.

Selection Criteria For Undergraduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Background: Matric with at least 70% Marks and FSc (1st Year) with 70% Marks or Above, O’ Levels results in at least 8 subjects with an average grade of at least ‘B’ in all subjects attempted, American High School Diploma (1st Year) with at least 70% Marks or Grade Point Average of B or above, or International Baccalaureate (1st Year) at least 28 out of 45 Points.
2. Performance in Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called).

Selection Criteria For Graduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Record: BS degree in relevant discipline with 2.4/4.0 CGPA from an HEC accredited institution, or 16 years of relevant education with 60% Marks in all university-level degree(s).
2. Performance in LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT)/Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called).

Selection Criteria For Postgraduate Programs
1. Relevant Academic Record: MS degree in relevant discipline with 3.0/4.0 CGPA from an HEC accredited institution, or 18 years of relevant education with First Division in all university-level degree(s).
2. Performance in LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT)/Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).
3. Application along with Supporting Document(s).
4. Performance in Interview (if called)
