The Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology (FUUAST) was established in 2002 under the authority of Pervez Musharraf. According to the ordinance, the main campus is the Islamabad campus since it has a federal existence; FUUAST has the authority to open a campus in any province.
The First Urdu college was established first in 1949 by Baba-e-Urdu Dr. Abdul Haq and then upgraded as the first university to teach Urdu primarily, on November 13, 2002. It was built by merging the Federal Arts and Science College and the Urdu college, both of which are located in Karachi.
The Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology (FUUAST) is the first public research university that uses Urdu as a medium of instruction. It is located in Gulshan Town, Karachi. Gulshan town has more than a dozen higher educational institutes for which reason it may also be called a university town. FUUAST is the largest and reputable university in Pakistan that is well accredited by the higher education commission.

The Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology (FUUAST) is providing education in at least 39 undergraduate and 31 master programs. The undergraduate courses include BBA, BCom, BS in Science subjects along with languages, whereas courses available for postgraduate programs specifically include M.com, MBA, M.F.E, and others.

For undergraduate programs
Candidates applying for BBA, Commerce, and Sciences having 12-year education with aggregate 45% minimum marks are eligible.
For postgraduate programs
Minimum 50 % intermediate with a CGPA of at-least 2.5/4 in the prior related degree.
FUUAST provides scholarships to students with financial hardships, academic and professional achievements, etc to reduce constraints on the success of an individual and the state.

This University (FUUAST) has grown and developed tremendously over such a short period, with at least 39 undergraduate and 31 master programs currently being offered by the university besides M.Phil programs. The basic goal of FUUAST is to make the students familiar with English as much as Urdu to ensure their advancement in the modern era and to educate the modern techniques of arts and technology. Every growing university has traditions that evolve over time, however, there is one common ground, aiming to achieve excellence. With this as its driving force, The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology is providing quality education ad producing skilled and talented personals. FUUAST stands among the top 10 research universities of Pakistan.
Seminars and workshops are conducted adequately in FUUAST to provide hands-on experience to the students, about their profession and are a significant source for them to gain knowledge and skills. In addition to skill enhancement, seminars also provide a forum on which people can speak up and address common and specific issues that need attention. Awareness programs are also conducted.
