HEC US-Pak Knowledge Corridor Ph.D. Scholarships 2023

The US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor HEC Ph.D. Scholarships for 2023 are open to all applicants from Pakistan, who wish to continue their higher education abroad. These fully funded scholarships allow students to pursue doctorate degree programs at leading universities in the United States. Applications are accepted from all around Pakistan. It is a merit-based scholarship with the bond of returning to the homeland.

Scholarship Details

  • The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is offering fully funded US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor scholarships to 1500 Pakistani students to pursue Ph.D. degree programs in the United States. This is a wonderful opportunity for Pakistani students to study at top universities in the United States.
  • In addition to providing financial support for Pakistani students to pursue their PhDs in the United States, the US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor scholarship program aims to foster collaboration between Pakistani and American institutions. Through this collaboration, new research techniques that address the needs of Pakistan will be shared and implemented.
  • The scholarship program is for Ph.D. degree programs, not for the MS leading to a Ph.D.
  • The scholarship is for two categories
  1.  Category I Scholarship is for the top 50 QS world-ranked US universities
  2.  Category II Scholarship is for the top 300 QS world-ranked US universities
  • The scholarship covers all expenses and covers expenditures as under:
  1.   Accommodation
  2.   Health Insurance
  3.   Housing allowance
  4.   Airfare

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

To be eligible for this program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess an MS/M.Phil. degree (18 years of education) from an accredited HEC university
  • Have a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) and be eligible for direct admission to a Ph.D. program at a US university
  • Be 40 years old or younger for general candidates from public sector universities/R&D organizations, or 35 years old or younger for all other candidates
  • Have a valid GRE and TOEFL score, as required for admission to US universities
  • Already have accreditation or be enrolled in a Ph.D. program at one of the 235 US universities or 23 university systems
  • Have a valid commitment to work for universities/R&D organizations in Pakistan after graduation

Specific Eligibility Criteria

 

To be eligible for Category I scholarship (top 50 QS World Ranked US universities), applicants must:

  • Have secured admission to a top 50 QS World Ranked US university
  • Have a valid GRE General score of at least 300 or a HAT score of at least 60%

To be eligible for Category II scholarship (top 300 QS World Ranked US universities), applicants must:

  • Have secured admission to a top 300 (51-300) QS World Ranked US university (overall ranking), or have secured admission in the top 100 (51-100) universities in a QS subject-wise ranking
  • Have a valid GRE General score of at least 300 or a HAT score of at least 60%, unless their admission is secured with a complete tuition waiver

 

 

How to Apply

 

  • The aspirants can apply online. New users must have to register on the official website of HEC.
  • To create a user ID on the HEC portal, use your CNIC number (without dashes) as the user ID and select a password.
  • Click the “Mobile Code” button on the provided mobile number to continue the process. Note that MNC and ported numbers are not currently supported.
  • After receiving the code on your mobile, enter it and then enter your email ID.
  • Verify the code and click “Submission” to complete the registration process.
  • To complete the online profile and apply for the US-PAK Knowledge Corridor scholarship:
  • Go to https://scholarships.hec.gov.pk/ and log in with your user ID and password.
  • Click “Scholarships and Grants” in the left navigation menu, then select “US-PAK Knowledge Corridor Application.”
  • Follow the instructions to fill out and submit the form.
  • Scan and email copies of the application form and other required documents to [email protected]. These documents should be attested by a gazetted officer of Grade 17 or above. At this stage, hard copies of the application and other documents do not need to be submitted, but you may be asked to do so later if necessary.
  • It is recommended that applicants download a copy of their filled-out application form for their own records.
  • All successful candidates will be required to sign a contract or bond with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) that obligates them to return to Pakistan immediately after completing their program in the United States and serve the country for a specified number of years. If a grantee fulfills this service requirement, they will not be required to pay anything. However, if they do not fulfill their contractual or bond obligation, they will be legally liable for the cost of their scholarship program in the United States.

 

 

Vital Points

 

  • All applicants will be required to commit to serving in Pakistan after completing their studies.
  • The scholarship grant will be offered for a maximum period of 5 years.
  • HEC-attested documents are not required at the time of application submission. If shortlisted, applicants will be asked to submit these documents later.
  • Misstating or misrepresenting information on the application form may result in disqualification or cancellation of the scholarship award at any point during the program.
  • it is important to thoroughly review your application before submitting it. Make sure to attach readable copies of all required documents. It may be helpful to have someone else review your application as well, to ensure that all necessary information is included and that it is presented clearly and accurately. It is better to take the time to ensure that your application is complete and correct before submitting it, as missing or incorrect information may result in your application being rejected.
