Imran Khan launches Tele School TV Channel

In the perilous situation created by pandemic disease COVID-19, the entire human race is at stake not only health-wise but in many other ways also. Youth has been badly affected as schools, colleges and universities are closed for more than a month. The majority of the students and teachers are desirous to make a stupendous use of this time, condole with the education and dispense to national efforts. So the Ministry of Federal Education and Technical Training in association with Pakistan Television (PTV) and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has developed an educational television channel, Tele-School and was launched by PM Pakistan on April 13th, 2020.

This channel was originated with the slogan ‘Education at Home’ in order to provide learning content to the students for the whole time period of closure of educational institutes due to COVID-19. It will provide classes to the students of grade 1 to grade 12, and the timing of the channel is 08:00 am to 06:00 pm as per schedule. The first session of this tele-school was broad-casted on the PTV Channel on April 14th, 2020.

Prime Minister Imran Khan at the time of inauguration assured that the government will serve all the possible resources on making the Tele-school efficient and fruitful for the Youth. He further elaborated on the purpose of this initiative and said that the channel will also help children living in remote areas.

Shafqat Mahmood(Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training) acquainted the reliability and accessibility of the tele-school channel by saying that it would be accessible on cable, satellite and terrestrial as well. He said that this broad-casting medium has been chosen because 95% of the population can easily get access to this medium.

While talking bout the initiative of Tele-schooling he also shared that the Ministry of Education is also thinking to develop an app to help over 20 million out-of-school children and to endorse adult literacy. He also shared about the additional efforts that the Ministry of Education is putting in the education sector and shared that side by side they are working to connect technology with education to facilitate adults who desired to acquire education and serve the country.

After a few on-air sessions of the tele-school channel, locals of the communities especially parents of the students acknowledged this tele-schooling initiative by PM Pakistan and Ministry of Education. Parents said,
