HEC Invites Disabled University Students to Receive Free Electric Wheelchairs

The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad has invited applications from students with ambulatory disability by September 15, 2020, to get the electric wheelchairs under the second phase of the Prime Minister’s Electric Wheelchair Scheme. This scheme has been initiated for university students all over Pakistan.

The students who are registered in public sector universities as well as in the affiliated colleges during the Fall Semester 2020-2021 are eligible to submit their applications through www.eportal.hec.gov.pk/wheelchair.

The Wheel Chair Scheme’s eligibility criteria cover those students who have any type of physical and permanent ambulatory disability to the extent that they are incapable to walk from one place to another. But, all the candidates must have a valid document of a special person or ambulatory disability from appropriate government executives.

The related candidates must fill up and submit the online registration form through the online portal mentioned above before the deadline, take print-out of their application and submit it to the office of respective Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, or designated person. Details of the shortlisted candidates will be then forwarded to The Higher Education Commission (HEC) for further processing.

It is applicable to notify that 206 electric wheelchairs were handed over to the disabled students in the first phase of the Prime Minister Electric Wheelchair Scheme. The students who have already received the wheelchairs in the first phase are not likely to apply in the second phase.
