PhD Pharmacology

Pharmacology is defined as the branch of medicine that deals with psychoactive agents or drugs, these being chemical substances that exert a specific action of on the various structures of living organisms, from molecules right through to cells and tissues and up to the overall body. Pharmacokinetic parameter therefore consist of factors affecting the passing of a drug into the different tissues and organs and the rate at which the drug is either metabolized or expelled from the body. Pharmacology is the scientific study an action, uses, or production of drugs and chemicals in relation to living organisms where a drug is any substance, natural or synthetic, that exerts a well-defined action on a biological system. This branch of biology may cover how organisms metabolize drugs, or how researchers find and prove the existence of new sites in the body where drugs may act, as well as methods of creating new drugs for use in the prevention, treatment, and cure of diseases. pharmacologists are trained as laboratory researchers, pharmacists usually work in a hospital or retail pharmacy and are concerned with the preparation, dispensing, dosage, and the safe and effective use of therapeutic agents.
