Ph.D. Mining Engineering

Ph.D. in mining Engineering is 3 to 5 years degree programme depending in which university you are enrolled in. This program is meant to incorporate extensive knowledge of surface mining, underground mining, resource estimation, rock mechanics and mine design with exposure to Artificial Intelligent, and resource management. The students will acquire the abilities needed to study and create the most acceptable mining process for a project with the most appropriate applications of the current technologies. Mining engineers are responsible for not only planning, designing, and supervising the exploitation of both surface and underground mining operations for safe and profitable extraction, but also for making innovative decisions to keep the mining operation viable in difficult environmental and market conditions. Mining engineers need solid core technical and scientific multidisciplinary knowledge, as well as practical abilities for communicating and working in multidisciplinary teams, to make smart decisions.

Scope

A mining engineer will find themselves surrounded by geologists and metallurgical engineers as they work to discover new mineral deposit locations. Mining engineers will also be involved in the development of equipment that will be utilized in the mining process and for the extraction of minerals from rock and dirt, among other things.
