Ph.D Botany

Ph.D. in Botany is a minimum three-year academic degree program after masters in Botany, aimed to study plant biology. The primary focus of the degree is to teach about current plant knowledge to solve plant-related problems in domains including agriculture, ecology, the environment, and horticulture. Botany studies how plants interact with one another, influence the environment and investigate plants at cellular and organism levels. Plants are also examined for their evolution and contribution to the planet's biodiversity. Botany's importance can be understood because the scientific disciplines of agriculture and forestry are built on Botany principles. Students in the Master of Science in Botany program have a wide selection of course options to tailor their degrees to their specific interests in botany. Academic advisors also assist and guide students in designing degree courses that will help them in pursuing their study objectives in a particular field of botany for specialization. Students can also work in research labs to participate in ongoing research or design and relevant research projects.

Botanists are hired to develop the plantation’s strategy and deal with any problems that emerge. Finally, students apply their botany knowledge and skills to come up with a workable solution. The following are some of the fields in Pakistan where botanists can progress their careers:

  • Research centers
  • Agricultural companies
  • Conservation agencies
  • Horticultural department
  • Forest Department
  •  Environmental Consultancy
  • Teaching Profession
