Physical therapy is a professional occupation that encompasses numerous specialties such as musculoskeletal, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary, neurology, endocrinology, sports medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, women's health, wound care and electromyography. Physical therapy treats illnesses or injuries that restrict an individual from moving and engaging in functional activities within his/her day-to-day life.PTs apply one's history and physical examination to determine a diagnosis and develop a management plan and, when indicated, include the outcomes of laboratory and imaging examinations such as X-rays, CT-scan, or MRI findings. Physical therapists can utilize sonography to diagnose and treat prevalent musculoskeletal, nerve, and pulmonary diseases.
