M.Phil Library and Information Sciences

About M. Phil The Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) in Library and Information Science (LIS) is a students’ research postgraduate program exploring the theoretical and practical methods of library and information management. This program focuses on the issues of information searching, digital libraries, metadata, information and library science literacy, and the information science profession. LIS M. Phil holders are well suited to become Library Directors, Information Managers, Digital Archivists, and academic researchers. They may also practice in a range of contexts including academic libraries, public libraries, corporate information centers, and government institutions to facilitate the proper management and sharing of information materials.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have a 16-year master’s degree or a 4-year education after HSSC in Library and Information Sciences or an equivalent discipline.
  • A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA/GPA is required (based on university criteria).
  • The degree must be from an HEC-recognized institution.
