Asian Studies

The academic field of Southeast Asian studies (SEAS) involves research-focused education about language together with cultural and historical aspects of Southeast Asian states and ethnic populations. Institutional programs identify SEAS as ASEAN Studies because their research field consists primarily of Association of Southeast Asian Nations member states. Different scholarly definitions of Southeast Asia result in uncertainty about which areas should be included within this geographical region thus creating overlap with Oriental studies and post-colonial studies. Through anthropology and religious studies and linguistics and international relations Southeast Asian studies research operates. Students can enroll in the two years MPhil degree program .The program exists to create extensive knowledge of Pakistan Studies as an academic field. The program works toward developing skills needed for advanced teaching and producing exceptional research about major Pakistani subjects and broader South Asian matters. Different projects along with policy papers of great significance have been completed by both students and faculty members of the Institute. The MPhil admission procedures get their approval through the Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS & RB). Students pursuing a PhD in Asian Studies at Pakistani institutions can explore the multifaceted histories and cultural heritage along with societies in the whole Asian continent.
