Home economics is a field of study that focuses on the skills needed to be a self-sufficient adult, including food preparation.The process by which the body transforms food into energy and body tissues. Nutrition can also refer to the quality of someone's food choices, or diet. Provides the body with essential substances called nutrients that help the body make energy, grow, repair, and maintain tissues, and keep systems working smoothly. Food also helps the body stay alive, be active, move and work, and prevent and fight infections.A diet that provides all the nutrients needed in the right amounts from foods eaten on a regular basis. A balanced diet can help people stay healthy, energetic, and feel and look their best. Good Nutrition plays a vital role in promoting and protecting health. It helps to prevent heart disease and some cancers as well as other health problems. In home economics education, students learn which nutrients are necessary for human health and maintenance of life and which food includes such nutrients, as well as the knowledge, skills and techniques related to cooking that make it possible to enjoy eating foods without reducing the nutrient value.
