Scope

Dental technicians are members of the dental health team that operate in laboratories to create and repair dental equipment such as bridgework and dentures that are used in orthodontic therapy. Dental technicians are healthcare specialists whose responsibilities include designing, fabricating, repairing, and modifying dental appliances and devices. Dental technicians are also in charge of the technical parts of the dental laboratory.

Dental technologists work in a regulated health-care field. Dental technologists are responsible for performing the complete scope of dental technology practice as well as overseeing the technical parts of dental laboratory operations on their own. The impression, together with the prescription, will be sent to a dental technologist’s laboratory, where the prescribed prosthesis will be designed, fabricated, and repaired. Therefore, the scope of BS Dental Technology is quite good in private and government dental hospitals.
