BS Anesthesia Technology
It is a 4 years professional degree program that imparts medical and technical knowledge to the degree holder about anesthesia technology. Anesthesia is the basic source of managing the pain of the wounded patient and the patient who is going under minor or major surgery. Therefore, this technology is a major supporting medical aid to the surgeons and doctors in hospitals. The students learn about basic human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and anesthesia technology (medicine and machine support both). Anesthesia technologists are trained well about the management of OT, all instruments, machines, and their operating systems. The prerequisite of admission in this degree is FSc (pre-medical) or equivalent education with a minimum of 50% marks. The students may have to clear the admission test or interview. So, it is recommended to check the admission criteria of the university you have applied for.

BS in Anesthesia Technology is a professional degree in Allied Health Sciences that equips the degree holder with adequate training about medical, surgical, and technical edges of anesthesia. In a hospital, Anesthesia technicians are the backbone of major/minor surgery procedures and ICUs. BS Anesthesia technology degree holders provide great assistance to the Anesthetist (the MBBS doctor with a specialty in Anesthesia). Without the team of Anesthetic technical staff, no hospital can have surgical departments, ICUs, and trauma centers. Therefore, BS Aesthesia Technology has quite a high scope and employment rate. It is important to know that even a minor surgery can’t be done without anesthetic paramedic support. That’s why the hospitals in the government and private sector have many seats for anesthetic paramedics and technicians. Besides working in regular hospitals, the anesthetic technicians are an integral part of the mobile ambulance service. In many cases, the patient may need anesthetic relief during first aid and only an anesthetic technician can provide it, may it be in the form of medication or plugging the patient with some kind of life support machine. With all the major work at hospitals and OTs, the degree holder can carry this degree for further higher studies to gain more expertise.
