Next Gen.Solution (NGS) organized one day conference at COMSATS University, Islamabad Campus on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) on January 23, 2020. Many renowned scientists from different best-recognized universities of Pakistan participated in the event and shared their knowledge and research work with the students and their colleagues.
Dr. Waseem Haider CEO of NextGen. Solutions and Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics COMSATS University Islamabad started the talk session by welcoming the guests and giving a lecture on High Throughput Sequencing (HTS), discussed the Sequencing methods including Next Generation Sequencing and Sanger Sequencing in detail and briefly explained the applications of NGS.
Lt. Col Dr. Hamid Nawaz Tipu, from Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), was also participated in the event and gave a lecture on Human Leukocyte Antigen Typing by NGS and elaborated that how it plays role in transplant rejection. He concluded his talk by giving an overview of the significance which is expected in the near future by the novel research going on at the Department of Immunology of AFIP.
Dr. Sikandar Hayat Khan, PNS HAFEEZ Hospital gave an extensive lecture on micro RNA, how they are discovered and how they are important in the field of medicine. He also discussed how the miRNA has provided novel diagnostic and their significance in treating genetic as well as non-genetic diseases.
Dr. Hamid Rashid from COMSATS University Islamabad, Sahiwal Campus also participated in the conference and discussed the major and prevalent disease of Pakistan i.e Breast Cancer and explained the structural analysis of the gene responsible for causing it i.e Brca1 and the mutation in the respective gene.
Besides these few other scholars from different cities including Dr. Nazish Jabeen, Mr. Talha Malik (Alpha Genomics Private Limited), Dr. Adil Hussain (Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan), Mr. Abdullah (Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad) and Dr. Ibrar Ahmed CEO (Alpha Genomics Private Limited) shared their expert knowledge and talk about the issues of existing world along with the suggestions and solutions of those issues in different fields of life.
The conference was concluded by certificate distributing ceremony followed by concluding talks of CEOs of Next Gen. Solutions and Alpha Genomics Private Limited in which they talk about the future plans and gave suggestions and guidelines to the university students about how to excel in the field of research.
