In the pandemic situation caused by the COVID-19 where the educational institutions are closed, the time of year is approaching where the educational institutes usually open their admissions for higher education.
On 7th May 2020 in the 29th meeting, Academic Council of COMSATS University Islamabad has issued a notification on 21st May 2020. This notification released the orders about the updated strategy for the admission due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the Fall-2020 semester only. The announcement has been issued with the consent of the competent authority.
“NTS test requirement admissions in undergraduate programs of CUI system is waived for the Fall 2020 semester only,” said in the notification. It is further notified that the merit calculation would be done by using Matriculation – 20% and Intermediate – 80%. Whereas the admissions in the Faculty of Architecture and Design will be done as per previous practice.
Dr. Fahim further instructed that for admissions in the graduate programs, the Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) will be required. The requirements of all the regulatory councils (Pharmacy Council, Pakistan Engineering Council, etc.) for admissions are mandatory for Fall-2020 admissions, he further said.
Besides the update in admission policy for the Fall 2020 semester, the notification also added that the online mode of teaching and assessments in COMSATS University Islamabad due to the COVID-19 pandemic will continue as per the notification of Government of Pakistan.
